Subject: Headroom with factory fitted sunroof?

Hi,

Am on the verge of committing to a new RX8 (Galaxy Grey or Stormy Blue front runners at the moment). Before I commit I need some feedback on the factory fitted sunrooof.

The car I took for a demo drive (Sunroof & Leather Pack) didn't have enough headroom for me. My hair, which is reasonably short (1"), was touching the roof, which would soon drive me mad. I'm only average height for a male (5'11), but must have an unusually long torso (aka short legs) which I have never realised before.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Or am I deformed/abnormal? Dealer said ... who cares what the dealer said ... they can't be trusted!

Sat in a leather pack without sunroof and the head clearance was fine. So looks like I have to go without sunfroof which is a shame in a sports car.

Thanks.

Um, I am 6'5" and have a leather pack with sunroof. I have my head shaved and if I let it get about an inch long i can start to feel the roof.

The height of the liner in the differnt models is no different from what I can tell. Did you adjust the height of the seat? there is an inch or more of height adjustment in the drivers seat.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Andrew

ohh and of course if you tilt the angle of the seat you will gain some headroom as well :)

my friend had that same problem as you, he sits in my car, and his hair is touching the roof. but this is with my driving position, in which the (base) seat is at its lowest setting, and the back is almost straight. I have no headroom problem, but if I wear a helmet, I can feel the helmet touching the roof.

maybe you'd better off without the sunroof. Who needs sunroof anyway LOL
beside... it only adds weight to the car, and reduce structural integrity hahahaha :P

Thanks Gang,

With the help of the dealer (to make sure I wasn't missing something) I did lower the seat as far as I could go. Didn't have the back too upright either. Without any reach adjustment on the steering wheel, tilting the seat-back any further makes for straight arm driving all the time. Looks like Black8 might be right and I can live w/o the sunroof.

Hopefully I'll be back on this forum with a new RX8. Some v.useful info here.
